El Lamento del mariachi, unlike the other pieces included in the catalog of the composer Luis Torres, is a piece in which Torres explores the sounds and harmonies related to Mexican culture and traditional instruments of this country.

 

Made to be presented during a contest of traditional Mexican music, the piece consists of an orchestration traditionally used in Mexican concert music and melodies that resemble the popular songs of the MIXTECA regions in Mexico.
