Neon/Glitches & Overdosed (2025), as well as Xtasis (2025) are two works composed by the composer Luis Torres during his time at the Cursus Program on Composition and Computer Music at IRCAM.
This piece was first commissioned in September 2024 for a premiere at UNAM’s Faculty of Music, and was recorded at Studio 5 (IRCAM, Paris) with IRCAM’s generous support for young composers.
Color, distortion and psychedelic experience are the themes that inspire this work composed by Luis Torres. In the same way as his work Peyotl for accordion and electronics, this work is related to the hallucinogenic effects that the brain is capable of perceiving under the influence of psychotropic substances, creating sound atmospheres that envelop the audience in a series of extreme sensations.
Inspired by the work of the poet Wislawa Szymborska, this work, composed for an acoustic instrument and electronics, also represents loneliness and the space between the individual and solitude, the incomprehension surrounding the artist or writer, who explores through creation what others explore through their senses.
